LyX
LyX is an advanced open source document processor that encourages an approach to writing based on the structure of your documents, not their appearance. LyX lets you concentrate on writing, leaving details of visual layout to the software.

SW instalation requirement:
Qt;
XForms;
If you want to compile LyX yourself with the xforms frontend, you'll also need libXpm. You'll have to get version 4.7 or newer.
In order to properly use LyX to create documents, you'll need to have a LaTeX installation.
ImageMagick tools - a set of tools for converting images.
By default, LyX uses the command-line tool convert to convert your images to a format that the GUI toolkit (Qt or XForms at the moment) can load natively.
Python - an object-orientated scripting language.
LyX uses the tool lyx2lyx to convert older LyX documents to the current format. lyx2lyx is written in python.
