25057x |
This program is a clock that shows which portion of the Earth's surface is illuminated by the Sun. There is a large choice of vector fully scalable maps. Sun Clock has an unique range of options including display of all major cities throughout the world, also with coordinates, local time and much more.

Celestia |

23417x |
Celestia is a real-time space simulation that lets you experience our universe in three dimensions. Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy. All travel in Celestia is seamless; the exponential zoom feature lets you explore space across a huge range of scales, from galaxy clusters down to spacecraft only a few meters across. A 'point-and-goto' interface makes it simple to navigate through the universe to the object you want to visit. Although it's not absolutely required, the program will be vastly more enjoyable if you also have a 3D graphics accelerator in your computer.

Nightfall |
http://www.lsw.uni-heidelberg.de/[..]ightfall.html |
7937x |
Nightfall can produce animated views of eclipsing binary stars, calculate synthetic lightcurves and radial velocity curves, and eventually determine the best-fit model for a given set of observational data of an eclipsing binary star system.

Xplanet |
http://xplanet.sourceforge.net/ |
4934x |
Xplanet renders an image of the earth into the X root window. All of the major planets and most satellites can be drawn, similar to the Solar System Simulator. Objects are time tracked. A number of different map projections are also supported, including azimuthal, Lambert, Mercator, Mollweide, orthographic, and rectangular.

Sky Charts |
http://www.stargazing.net/astropc/ |
4433x |
This program enables you to draw sky charts, making use of the data
in 16 catalogs of stars and nebulae. In addition the position of planets, asteroids and comets are shown.

|
Xplns |
http://www.astroarts.com/[..]ns/index.html |
4223x |
Xplns reproduces real starry sky on your display of X Window System. It calculates the position of many celestial objects (stars, galaxies, nebulae, constellations, planets, comets, etc.) very accurately. Distribution is in binary code only, because it includes a lot of commercial source code produced by AstroArts Inc. Requires also Star data, Orbital elements and Image data.
