Ethereal http://www.ethereal.com/ 34997x
Ethereal is a free network protocol analyzer for Unix and Windows. It allows you to examine data from a live network or from a capture file on disk. You can interactively browse the capture data, viewing summary and detail information for each packet. Ethereal has several powerful features, including a rich display filter language and the ability to view the reconstructed stream of a TCP session.

KNetworkConf http://knetworkconf.sourceforge.net/ 28315x
KNetworkConf is a KDE application to configure TCP/IP settings on a Linux machine. I developed it because I couldn't find any application to configure TCP/IP settings from within KDE, and I think this is a "must have" app for a serious Desktop Enviroment like KDE.

KWirelessMonitor http://www.cs.cmu.edu/[..]elessmonitor/ 24320x
KWirelessMonitor is a small KDE application that docks into the system tray and monitors the wireless network interface.

OpenAFS http://www.openafs.org/ 23993x
Multiplatform, networked and distributed file system, based on the client/server principle, with great scalability. Suitable for both local and remote networks. Supports centralized administration on *nix platforms. Server and client is currently ported to the following platforms:* Linux (2.2, 2.4) * Darwin * MacOS X * IBM AIX * Digital Unix * HP/UX * SGI IRIX * Solaris * Windows (with some limitations -- on the 9x branch works just the client, on the NT brach both client and server, but the system-wide integration is much worse than on unices). Key features: * world-wide unique directory three under /afs * local file access caching (fully detached work is not supported, but the performance improvement is distinctive especially in large networks or while accessing topologically remote cells) * user management using own Kerberos IV implementation (can be substituted by another brand or by Kerberos V), token-based access control and intristic ACL (replacing standard permission bits) * scalability throught dividing the directory tree into independent volumes (each with its own quota), their migration to different server machines, dynamic appending of new servers, replicating volumes for load ballancing, etc. * supports file locking Current disadvantages (being solved): * maximal file size is limited by 2 GB * unarranged source code, many parts written in an archaical K&R style, not yet reviewed * no client support for 2.6 kernel branch

KWiFiManager http://kwifimanager.sourceforge.net/ 22661x
With the application KWiFiManager you can configure and monitor your wireless LAN PC-Cards under Linux/KDE. The application is designed for KDE version 3.x only

MyNetMonitor http://web.tiscali.it/[..]gobazzanella/ 20555x
Mynetmonitor is a GTK 2 net monitor with system tray support. It shows various status icons in the GNOME 2, KDE 3, XFCE 4 system trays, uses connect and disconnect commands, and shows net speeds and times.

AP Radar http://apradar.sourceforge.net/ 20401x
AP Radar is a Linux/GTK+ based graphical netstumbler and wireless profile manager. This project makes use of the version 14 wireless extensions in linux 2.4.20 and 2.6 to provide access point scanning capabilities for most models of wireless card.

SmokePing http://people.ee.ethz.ch/[..]ls/smokeping/ 19980x
SmokePing is a network latency monitor which works in a way that is similar to MRTG. It measures network latency to a configurable set of destinations on the network, and displays its findings in easy-to-read Web pages. SmokePing has special support for monitoring hosts with dynamic IP addresses. SmokePing uses RRDtool as its logging and graphing back-end, making the system very efficient. The presentation of the data on the Web is done through a CGI which creates graphs on demand.

Gtk-IPTables http://gtk-iptables.sourceforge.net/ 18740x
Gtk-IPTables is a GTK-based frontend for iptables written in C. You can create rules for all chains for Filter, NAT, and Mangle tables.

mail2sh http://mans.gyptis.org/[..]ofts/mail2sh/ 18406x
Mail2sh makes it possible to carry out shell commands by email. Email is sent to a particular user on your host and the commands will be carried out if the user and password given matches ones in /etc/passwd. Commands are executed with the user's privileges, and combined with a PGP module ensures a certain level of security for use. Note that the system is not natively encrypted, so use of an encryption mechanism is highly recommended for security reasons.

Ndiswrapper http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/ 17552x
Some vendors refuses to release specs or even a binary Linux driver for their WLAN cards. ndiswrapper tries to solve this by making a kernel module that can load Ndis (Windows network driver API) drivers.

RRDTool http://people.ee.ethz.ch/[..]ools/rrdtool/ 16951x
RRD is the Acronym for Round Robin Database. RRD is a system to store and display time-series data (i.e. network bandwidth, machine-room temperature, server load average). It stores the data in a very compact way that will not expand over time, and it presents useful graphs by processing the data to enforce a certain data density. It can be used either via simple wrapper scripts (from shell or Perl) or via frontends that poll network devices and put a friendly user interface on it.

etherape http://etherape.sourceforge.net/ 16705x
EtherApe is a graphical network monitor for Unix modeled after etherman. Featuring link layer, ip and TCP modes, it displays network activity graphically. Hosts and links change in size with traffic. Color coded protocols display. It supports Ethernet, FDDI, Token Ring, ISDN, PPP and SLIP devices. It can filter traffic to be shown, and can read traffic from a file as well as live from the network.

Poptop-PPTP Server http://www.poptop.org/ 15990x
PPTP stands for Point to Point Tunneling Protocol. It was developed by a consortium including Microsoft and is used for establishing VPN (Virtual Private Network) tunnels across the Internet. This allows remote users to securely and inexpensively access their corporate network from anywhere on the Internet.

Ovladač USB Wireless adapter Atmel http://at76c503a.berlios.de/ 15105x
Driver for USB Wireless LAN adapter based on the Atmel AT76C503/505A chipsets. Well matched to popular Micronet SP907BB adapters. Seems to have less problems and better results than known atmelwlan driver from sourceforge.net.
