The Helix Player is an audio and video player based on the Helix DNA Client engine. It is designed for GTK+, and includes a Mozilla browser plug-in. It supports local file playback and streaming over RTSP/RTP, RTSP/RDT, and HTTP. It supports video zoom in original, double size and full screen, and has support for the following media types: SMIL 2.0, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, H.263 video, JPEG, GIF, PNG, RealPix, RealVideo (RV9, RV8, RV7, RVG2), and RealAudio (RA8, G2 audio) (the latter two only in binary form).

In layman's terms, this program lets you make cool sounds by pointing and clicking on a graph. This is somewhat similar to what some digital sythesizers are able to do.

FFmpeg is a complete solution to record, convert and stream audio and video. It includes libavcodec, the leading audio/video codec library.
* ffmpeg is a command line tool to convert one video file format to another. It also supports grabbing and encoding in real time from a TV card.
* ffserver is an HTTP (RTSP is being developped) multimedia streaming server for live broadcasts. Time shifting of live broadcast is also supported.
* ffplay is a simple media player based on SDL and on the ffmpeg libraries.
* libavcodec is a library containing all the ffmpeg audio/video encoders and decoders. Most codecs were developped from scratch to ensure best performances and high code reusability.
* libavformat is a library containing parsers and generators for all common audio/video formats.

K3Guitune is a program that lets you tune a musical instrument using your computer and its microphone. It takes the microphone input, determines its frequency, and displays where on the note scale that is using an oscilloscope and a note scale graphic. K3Guitune supports three different frequency scales: normal, Wien and physical. It's a port to KDE 3 of the K2Guitune program by Florian Berger. It is not likely to run out of the box on other systems than Linux, but porting should be easy.

KStreamRipper is a simple frontend to the command line tool streamripper( streamripper.sf.net ). It rips shoutcast( www.shoutcast.com ) streams and splits them up in single mp3 files with file names and ID3 tags based on the information the stream sends.

If you are a Debian user, you can install KStreamRipper from the official debian mirrors(sid) as well.
